Hotel Bystrá

We visited with kids just for a few hours to the pool and sauna and then lunch. Food and staff were great. The pool area is a little small but nice and clean. The wellness area is very nice. Large, relaxing, drinks available and plenty of benches to relax. The steam saunas are great. The only problem was with the Finnish sauna. Although it’s large and has high benches, there was no water bucket available to throw water on the heater or benches. Because of this it was far too dry there and the benches were too hot to sit on and the wooden floor almost too hot to stand on. More humidity there would make it much better and if there aren’t a lot of guests possibly running the heater slightly cooler. Aside from this it was a nice trip.

An apartment I rented nearby offered free 2-hour passes to the water world at this hotel. These free passes seemed 100% legitimate as they were provided by Hotel Bystra and were even stamped and signed by the hotel on the back. This was a nice way to check it out and see if we want to stay at this hotel on our next trip. Well, to our surprise, when we came to redeem the free entry tickets we were told these tickets were actually just discount vouchers (even though the text on the front said that this was free entry ticket and there was no mention of a discount). So they wanted us to pay virtually full price which we would have done but the cashier was so rude to us especially Lubica Geregaiova, that we didn’t want to have anything to do with this place. It seemed like this was a scam set up by the hotel to get guests of nearby private places to come to the water world, offering a free entry ticket and surprising them with a hefty bill. And people that work there like Lubica are fed up with all these people that then show up with all these free vouchers. Totally disappointing. I would have been happy to pay full price but left me feeling scammed and unwelcome.

Absolutely recommended... We spent two nights in their only apartment having a pleasant time on the end of Aug 2013. Very nice and clean place equiped with new modern furniture. All staff was really nice and helpful. There is a wellness located in a next building connected to with a bridge so you stay warm passing through. There are many possibilities for sports such as cycling tracking climbing skiing. I also recommend the Cave of death bats which is close to this location (around 6-7 kms). You should definitely visit the 'lumber railway' attraction which is very beloved mainly by kids. Small steam machines save the day for sure. Summary: We've had just a positive experiences. Just go there an you can check it on your own ;-)

Very poor wellness. Small pool, only 4 saunas full of screaming kids! and loud people in swimwear. Visitors do not even get blankets. Very few chairs. Additionally, dirty floors in the bathrooms and changing rooms - no wonder when the kids are allowed to walk around in sneakers. One has to expect more given that it costs more than any other alternative in the area.
